Anthem

Some of the songs on the Juno soundtrack I already knew and liked (and you totally can’t steal those songs from me, they’re mine, mine!). I’ve never listened to Kimya Dawson, though, and found myself just completely head-over-heels in love with her. The songs on the track that were hers got me excited in a way that new exposure to a musician has failed to do in, oh, three or four years. Added bonus: they were easy to sing, and I have about a four note singing range.

This song I listened to over and over and over on both eight-nine hour drives last weekend, so that I could learn the words and sing along loudly. I wanted to memorize each delicious word for ever, by heart, etch it on my brain, etc. Maybe you all already know about this artist, and this song is old news, Kara, geeeez, get with the times! When was the last time you listened to music, COLLEGE? But I can’t stop listening to it. It makes me feel a little hopeful, a little humorous, a little happy. I shook my head and grinned the first time I heard it, and sometimes it’s hard to sing along because of all the grinning.

PS.

Dear Cab,

I know that Monk and Coltrane both had a bug, and I know that means there was lots of delicious, delicious cat vomit to try to sneakily eat.  But just because it seems like licking dried cat vomit is a super awesome idea, I can promise you it is not.  It will make you throw up cat vomit in your own vomit, and I love you, but that was really just easily avoided.

Once again, you were protected by your sheer stupidity.  It’s hard to be mad at someone so dumb.

Love,

me

PS2.  I’m slowly training the dogs so I can grind their claws with a Dremel tool.  More about THAT excitement another time.
