New week.
I went down to see my family over the weekend. It was a lot of driving (I’ve noticed I get super antsy/shifty/cranky during hour six of the drive, and sort of yell-y at other drivers), but it was good to see them. Bonus: my sister taught her dachshund how to roll over, and it is wriggly and awesome.
I miss my sister.
On Saturday, we ran into one of my favorite people in the entire WORLD, and I miss her, too. (BLOGGED, as promised.) I felt very dramatic and sad that there wasn’t more time to catch up/be loud/swap 30 Rock Tracy Jordan quotes (mind grapes).
On Sunday, on a break during my drive back, I had brunch with a friend who once was very very close to me. We’d lost touch for the last, oh, five or six years, and when I parked my car on her street and saw her waving on the sidewalk, my hands were shaking. Seeing her was so good. SO GOOD. We have a lot of catching up to do.
I don’t know how she’d feel about me plastering her picture here, but I can probably share this delightful one that her husband got of us. I don’t know why I was making this face, but we can probably all agree that I should make it more often.
I’ve been wondering what your refrigerators look like. We should compare photos. This is mine:
Let’s see. We have a page ripped out from the NWF magazine, an invitation to my 10 year high school reunion, an Obama pin from the caucus, a picture of a puppy I tore off an ad, sketches of how we remember Kewpie dolls from a beer night with a friend, and other assorted nonsense. Including our quote board.
In case you’re wondering, my quote was from a shrieking incident involving my head and a June bug.
I HATE those things.
Love,
black sheeped

You are so damn cute. Good to see you again!
LOVE your quote. I believe I may have used it myself a time or two.
So I am exactly 10 years older than you, huh? Very interesting. Okay, not really, but whatever.
Our fridge is NOT magnetic. It drives me NUTS. So, it is just pure stainless steel.
I am so glad you were able to visit with so many people that mean so much to you. My heart is just soaring for you.
Our fridge has about the last ten baby announcement/christmas photo cards people sent, an abstract crayon drawing from a visiting toddler artist, a magnetic barn which allows you to match the front an back halves of animals (and tells you you’re silly if you mismatch them (“A cow-pig! That’s silly”)), a dry-erase to-do list which is about two weeks out of date, a large pile of pizza coupons which are potentially months past their expiration dates, and about five Taco Del Mar punch cards with at least two free burritos worth of punches between them, which would of course make more sense in my wallet, but which I keep not doing because my wallet is fat enough as it is.
On our fridge: two graduation invites from kids Jim coached last year, a drawing by Adelay, a picture of Adelay coming down the slide, a picture of a friend’s baby, a boring shopping list, and a Dwight Schrute magnet.
I love your quote board. We need one of those. If Jim had a quote it would be, “But that doesn’t make any SENSE!” This is his main complaint about the universe. Mine would be, “I’m cold! Wait, now I’m hot! Ad nauseum.”
