Hey, so, I haven’t been around much lately.  Who’s going through pet-photo-withdrawal?  WHO?  Let’s see what they’re up to.

Monk’s pretty much been acting like this for four weeks straight:

And Cab has been…more of the same:

Jelly Roll has been sleeping in the basement for 12 hour stretches.  He only comes around to accuse me of neglecting/starving him.

And if you’re wondering if this is Coltrane, lounging on a cat bed littered with cat nip, high and trying to engulf her favorite tennis ball with her fat, you are correct:

Oh, Monk is still trying to sit on the couch like a person:

I got the dogs a sock monkey toy.

For some reason, its tail was sewn to the middle of its back.

Monk pulled the tail off, which was a vast improvement.

Jut suggested I sew the tail closed and give it to the cats as a cat toy.  So I put some catnip in it, sewed it up, and then decided it needed a face so it would look less…creepy.  Not successful:

The cats rejected it, but Jut found it to be HILARIOUS, for obvious reasons.  We’ve spent the last week snickering, hiding it in purses, the medicine cabinet, etc.   I took the above photo when I found it in a pile of unfolded clean laundry.

Perhaps the best, though, was Monday morning.  The alarm went off, I rolled over sleepily against my husband.  He took my hand, under the covers, and pressed the wormy monkey tail into my palm.  Laughing, he said, “I’ve been waiting all night for the perfect moment to do that!”

That’s what’s been going on here.
