I really hate it when I find out something icky about products I’ve used forever. Obviously, I must share.
Did you know red/pink cosmetics are made with a colorant derived from insects? Ground up insects? Also. It is in FOOD.
It makes me feel so SQUIRMY, because I had no IDEA, when I READ LABELS (because I do!) that “carmine” = “bugs.”

I learned about Cochineal beatles when I was on holiday in the Canary Islands once. I think that they live in the cacti that grow around the islands there. Personally never saw one, but will now look twice at the strawberry sauce on my ice cream.
